Update from the Marshmans

Class, enjoy this update from the Marshman family a few weeks following the birth of Henry! And don’t forget to visit their family site for updates.

Hey everyone! We have had Henry home now for three weeks and it has been a bit of a whirlwind! The adjustment from one child to two has been interesting to say the least. We take it one day at a time and sleep when we can. All in all, we are so thankful that the Lord has given us a healthy daughter and now a healthy son, it is such a blessing! Henry was born Friday the 13th and was just shy of 9 lb. He came out hungry and has been a champion eater since. If you wanted to catch a glimpse of him you could go down to the nursery at church and look for the baby with the head full of black hair. We are still trying to figure out where it came from. Although Rachel and I mostly look forward to sleeping again, we also are excited to build into Georgia and Henry godly character and a deep love for the Lord. This is all a huge adventure for us! Congratulations to the following outstanding graduates:

Dan Born
Russ Freeman
Reagan Marsh
Adam Panisiak
Robert Patterson
Wendy Schrock

More importantly, let’s offer praise to God in Christ, who has given us a capacity to search out his greatness in the various educational endeavors we enjoy.

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. ~Romans 11:33-36

Happy Birthday Dr. Wellum

This Sunday we honored our teacher, Dr. Wellum on the occasion of his Birthday. The following poem was composed and recited by our very own Travis Abraham to the beat of “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus.

wellumsbirthday7.jpg

You can see the candles, the eighty billion candles
And you can feel the heat from far away
And you can see the hair, that slighty graying hair
He might be headin’ towards a new toupee

Now we could ask Ms. Karen to tell us all his age
I’m sure that it would give her quite the thrill
But we can’t count that high, no one can count that high
All we know is that he’s over the hill

So don’t tell the class, the Wellum’s Couples Class
How old Dr. Wellum really is
Cuz if you tell the class, the Wellum’s Couples Class
We might laugh like a bunch of little kids.

Allright, he’s not that old, he’s really not that old
But of course we had to razz him just a tad
The truth is that he’s awesome, its in the Word he blossoms
And he’s top-notch as a husband and a dad

His family is crazy, sons run track and aren’t lazy
The daughters draw nice pictures on the board
His wife, she is a hostess, a hostess with the mostest
Dr. Wellum leads his family in the Lord

An example to class, the Wellum’s Couples Class
Is the life of Dr. Wellum, wife and kids
We’d all do well to follow the example of this fam,
Enjoy life, love God, and pass on the Gift.

“See What A Morning”

“See What A Morning” (Resurrection Hymn) by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend

See, what a morning, gloriously bright,
With the dawning of hope in Jerusalem;
Folded the grave-clothes, tomb filled with light,
As the angels announce, “Christ is risen!”

See God’s salvation plan,
Wrought in love, borne in pain, paid in sacrifice,
Fulfilled in Christ, the Man,
For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

See Mary weeping, “Where is He laid?”
As in sorrow she turns from the empty tomb;
Hears a voice speaking, calling her name;
It’s the Master, the Lord raised to life again!

The voice that spans the years,
Speaking life, stirring hope, bringing peace to us,
Will sound till He appears,
For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

One with the Father, Ancient of Days,
Through the Spirit who clothes faith with certainty.
Honor and blessing, glory and praise
To the King crowned with pow’r and authority!

And we are raised with Him,
Death is dead, love has won, Christ has conquered;
And we shall reign with Him,
For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

Welcome Leah Mackenzie Perz!

Class,

Let’s join the Perz family in welcoming Leah Mackenzie into the world! Enjoy these photos and an update from Ryan on behalf of the family.

We joyfully welcomed our second child Leah Mackenzie Perz into this world on Monday February 18th 2008. We are humbled and thankful to the Lord for entrusting us with this stewardship of raising children for his glory. We also give God all the glory, for we know that our ability to parent comes only through the redemption that is in Christ and his Spirit indwelling us.

Elijah loves his little sister and has blown me away with how gentle, loving and concerned he is about her so far.

Emily exemplifies the Proverbs 31 woman and blows me away with how well she makes the adjustments and cares for our children.

Praising the Triune God from whom all blessings flow,

Ryan Perz

Welcome Zoe Isabella Anizor

From the Anizors!

Hi everyone,

We just wanted to let you know that on Monday morning at 6:01am, Mel gave birth to our beautiful little girl! Zoe weighed in at 6lbs and 5 oz and is 19 inches long. The labor was pretty intense (as all labors are, I suppose), but Mel did wonderfully, making it the whole way through with no drugs. I am happy to report that both mom and baby are doing fine and just got home this afternoon. We are so thankful for God’s grace in giving us a healthy daughter. We chose the name Zoe (meaning “life” in Greek) because over these past few months especially, we’ve really come to see that God truly is the giver and sustainer of life, and we are so thankful for His gift of life to us in our little girl. Isabella (meaning “devoted to God”) seemed an appropriate fit in describing our greatest desire for our daughter - that she would be someone whose life is passionately devoted to serving and loving our great God.

Thank you for all of your prayers and for rejoicing with us! Here are a few pictures of our little girl. Enjoy!

From the proud, thrilled and giddy papa,

Uche

Happy New Year

In Psalm 113, the writer considers the greatness of God; “From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord be praised.” There is not a single moment in the course of a single day or an entire year for which we are not dependent upon God. From January 1st to December 31st, “his glory is high above the heavens.”

And so it is on January 1, 2008.

As Christians, we know what it means to have a happy new year, because with each year we are one year closer to the day when, according to Malachi 1:11, “from the rising of the sun to its setting” God’s name “will be great among the nations.” We look forward to the new creation when God will “wipe away every tear from [our] eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” In this hope we rejoice.

Praise God for sending his Son, without whom a “happy new year” would be an oxymoron.

For the maximization of your happiness in Christ, consider how you might read through the entire Bible in 2008. Crossway, the publisher of the ESV Bible, is offering several ways to get yourself in and through the Bible each year.
