Class-wide Fellowship Lunch, February 17

lunchpic2.jpg
Sunday, February 17, we will have an all class lunch in our ABF classroom. We will be enjoying everyone’s favorite Italian dishes. Already, we have had a great response. For those of you who are new to our class, this is a great chance to make and invest in new friendships.

If you have not had an opportunity to sign up, don’t worry. The sign up sheet will be passed around again this Sunday. We could use another salad and main dish. We could also use more desserts and drinks. If you would like to bring any of these things please, sign up or email me at wadeandRebecca[at]gmail[dot]com. We look forward to seeing you all on the 17th.

Congratulations To Jeramy and Meggan Anderson

Jeramy and Meggan Anderson shared nine months of their lives as members of our class. Back in August, they moved to Atlanta, where they hope for Jeramy to establish a speaking ministry as an apologist. We recently received contact from the couple with news of the birth of a precious daughter. Praise the Lord! Enjoy these pictures and a brief update from the couple.

Moriah Lee Anderson was born November 26, 2007 @ 3:19AM. She was 6lbs 10 oz and 20″ long. She is beautiful and is very healthy. Meggan is doing well, and we praise the Lord for how everything has gone thus far. May He continue to grant us grace as we depend upon Him during this momentous time of transition. May He bless us with many more fruits of the womb! Amen!

Grace to you!
Jeramy

This Sunday: Dinner On The Grounds

picnicstuff.jpgThis Sunday, Oct 14, we will be enjoying dinner on the grounds. Immediately following Adult Bible Fellowship we will be heading outside to enjoy Bar B-Q with all the fixin’s. If you would still like to bring anything please sign up in class or contact Rebecca Mathis (wadeandrebecca@gmail.com).

This Tuesday, Next Sunday & the Gospel

The next seven days brings us two opportunities to glorify the gospel as a class,

The gospel is glorified when God’s people treasure lost souls and express the love of Christ in tangible ways. So, this Tuesday evening, from 5-7pm, we will be visiting members of our community to distribute fliers for Ninth and O’s Health Fair, to be held on October 13th.

The gospel is glorified when God’s people enjoy the gift of food and the grace of fellowship. So, next Sunday, Oct 14, we will be enjoying one another as the people of God over a Sunday meal on the church grounds.

Neither of these two events would take place if the gospel were not true. But the gospel is true and we are privileged to gather for these all important expressions of our faith.

Stop back for more details.

Welcome Emma Grace

Against her will, Emma Grace was born September 4, 2007 at 7:18pm. Congratulations to Travis and Megan Abraham! Here’s an update from Travis,

dsc_0024.JPG

I’ve been blown away by this entire birth process. I didn’t sob as
Emma was born, but I did have tears in my eyes, partially because of
the pain I had to witness Megan go through, but also because, when
they clamped Emma’s umbilical cord, she immediately took her first
breath and cried, and it shot straight to my heart.

We are so thankful for those of you who have already stopped by, and
for those of you who are planning on it! Your words have been so
gracious, your gifts perfect, and your prayers sufficient for our
needs. Thank you so much for everything.

We can’t wait to introduce her to you at church soon. She has
piercing eyes, a good strong grip, and when that lower lip quiver gets
started, you know there’s an adorable cry about to burst forth!

Just so you know, we very much welcome visitors! Just give us a call
to let us know you’re coming.

Travis, Megan, and Emma Grace

If you are recent visitor and are considering membership in our class, this will be a time to experience the fellowship we enjoy.

We will be enjoying finger foods, games and fellowship as we regroup after the summer, get to know new members and prepare for the fall season. Bring your group games, your lawn chair, your monkey bar golf attitude and get ready to have a good time.

Welcome Baby Kate Miersma

Congratulations to Nick and Jennifer on the safe arrival of Kate! Here is an update from Nick on behalf of all three Miersma’s! (Click on the photos to make ‘em big!)

img_1270.JPG
Hey everyone,

Kate Elizabeth is doing great now! As you know already, she was born 9lbs, 2oz, 20.5in long. We went in at 7am on monday morning and immediately Jenn began the induction process. Our beautiful Kate came into this world at 9:23pm that same evening. Jennifer did so well!!! Our family and all the nursing staff see a lot of daddy in her, but I think she has Jenn’s nose and eyes. She’s been a good baby (got a lot of experience to compare it to ya know) and we have Jenn’s mom and my sis here to help. We came home Wednesday afternoon and are adjusting nicely to everything. I already see it’s going to be hard to leave her and mom home while I go to work.

img_1410.JPGWe see God’s hand at work throughout the process - grace for such a healthy baby, grace for such a good labor and delivery, grace for all the help from family and friends, grace for the patience and joy needed while Kate is screaming with everything she’s got…even as I write this!! There are so many things to get used to and many more that we did not have to experience. The Lord continues to guide us and show us his mercy in all the ways that the labor, delivery, and health of the baby could have been so much more difficult. Even the timing of her arrival has reminded us of His sovereignty. We love growing in our faith that His wisdom and goodness are ours in Christ and only pray that Kate will one day be given the same grace to believe and treasure Christ! May we all praise God for his grace to this baby as she will be raised to know the Lord and worship his sovereign purposes to his glory! “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! ‘For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?’ ‘Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?’ For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.” Romans 11:33-6

In Christ,

Nick and Jenn

Sunday Breakfast and Recipes

I’m pleased to announce two new features for this site: Sunday Breakfast and Recipes.

Now to see the Sunday Breakfast listing, click on Resources, then Breakfast. I’ll still be reminding people with phone calls and emails, but this will help people keep track of when they’re signed up, when there might be openings, and how to contact the breakfast person. Everyone has been doing an amazing job with breakfast. Thanks!

Also, thanks to Karen’s great suggestion, the Recipes link under Resources provides recipes that you can download. Have a great recipe that you want to share? Send it to me at jenaborn@yahoo.com in PDF or Word format and we’ll post it. Love the Abraham’s breakfast cookies or any other dish the class has been blessed with? Email me and I’ll request it from the class member.

The happiest place on the internet!

sundaymornings.jpgWeb sites are windows into hearts. News sites provide a view into the daily happenings of the world, the wonder of human existence and the tragedy of its fallen state. More personally, blogs, MySpace pages and Facebook walls provide a view into the thoughts and the wants of individual people. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, and most web sites tell the story of life without hope and without God in the world.

That’s why truly Christian web sites are the happiest places on the internet. They are made by the kind of people who actually believe that nothing can separate them from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

This, we hope, is one of those places. Wellumscouples.com is the new internet hub for those Christian couples that populate Dr. Wellum’s Adult Bible Fellowship at Ninth and O Baptist Church in Louisville, KY.

The purpose of this site is two fold:

First, this site exists to build up and strengthen our marriages by supporting and enhancing the ministry that’s already taking place among the members of our class. Here you can…

  • download audio from Sunday’s teaching
  • view photos from class gatherings
  • get directions to events
  • and learn of opportunities to minister the gospel within our class, throughout the church and throughout our community.
  • In addition to building up the body, this site also exists to magnify the worth of Christ among the lost in Louisville through the public enjoyment of the gospel in the right ordering of individuals and families according to the goodness, the truthfulness and the beauty of God’s Word. In future months, couples will share of how Christ brought them to himself and how he satisfies them with himself today.

The world wide web of words is a window into the hearts of its inhabitants. May the words on this site speak from the abundance of hearts that revel in the glory of God because they are full in His Son, Jesus Christ. When this is true, this site will be the happiest place on the internet.
